Капитан Сергей Мущицкий родился и проживал в поселке Высокополье Бериславского района Херсонской области. Занимал военную должность члена экипажа вертолета Ми-14 10-й морской авиационной бригады.

Погиб 7 мая 2022 вместе с коллегами. Во время осуществления поисково-спасательных мероприятий в районе устья реки Дунай. Ми-14 с пятью украинскими военными на борту упал, пораженный ракетой истребителя Су-30.

11 мая 2022 года был похоронен на одном из кладбищ в г. Николаеве на Мишковском кладбище вместе с погибшим в вертолете полковником Игорем Бедзаем
