52-летний капитан Юрий Житченко позывной Кальмар погиб 6 июня 2024 года в районе населённого пункта Уманское Покровского района Донецкой области во время выполнения боевого задания.
28 июля 2022 года Юрия призвал Харьковский районный территориальный центр комплектации и социальной поддержки на службу. В декабре 2022-го получил тяжёлое ранение, после которого в голове остался осколок. После лечения в Испании защитник вернулся на службу, хотя имел возможность освободиться по состоянию здоровья. Стал командиром сапёров.
